Taarabt faces QPR axe - A Warning from Boss Warnock

ADEL Taarabt has been told to get himself fit or lose his place in QPR’s team. The mercurial Moroccan (pic) was the Championship player of the year last season, and a permanent fixture in Hoops’ starting XI.
But boss Neil Warnock has warned that unless he sharpens his act, the midfielder could be watching Premiership action from the sidelines – especially as the likes of Joey Barton and four or five new players are on the cusp of joining the club.
The manager said: “If I bring four or five players in and Adel’s not fit – he won’t be in the team. He is not naturally going to be the main man – he’s going to be a good player in the squad. And he knows this to be fair to him.”
Warnock has had more than his fair share of spats with the talented player in just one campaign – but was delighted with Taarabt’s attitude when picked to play lowly Rochdale in the Carling Cup on Tuesday – even if it did end with a 2-0 defeat.
“Adel play against Rochdale three months ago? I don’t think he would,” said Warnock. “But he’s got to get fit with games. And all that summer speculation with Paris Saint German over a move, as well as meetings with agents and our chairman took its toll, which is why he’s not as fit as he should be.”
