Warnock pleased to retain Taarabt



Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has expressed his delight the club were able to retain Adel Taarabt's services beyond the transfer window.

The talented playmaker was reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League big-guns in January, although the Loftus Road outfit managed to keep hold of his signature.
Taarabt has been a crucial cog in the QPR wheel this term, helping Warnock's troops to top of the table with a five-point margin approaching the business end of the season
.
Although the former Tottenham man gets special attention from opposing teams, Warnock thinks that benefits the side as it frees up more space for his team-mates.

Presence

"He's a good player," Warnock told Sky Sports News. "He's our player. He's our captain and we're glad to have him around.
"He gets so much attention that it does give other players more room. Overall by his presence it's helped us enormously.
"His ability has never been in doubt. Technically, probably one of the best players in the world, technically, as daft as it sounds.
"He's only 21 and he's got loads to learn, but at the same time he's improving on that side."
The league leaders put their lengthy unbeaten run on the line against Reading on Friday night and Warnock is expecting a tough game against the Royals.

Complacency

However, he is taking nothing for granted so far despite an impressive campaign, stating their upcoming games with Reading and Nottingham Forest are testing fixtures.
"The lads have done every so well. All the clubs in the Championship are so close. There's probably about 10 clubs still thinking about automatic promotion," he said.
"At this stage of the season we're all getting injuries to certain players so we're having to use the squad. It's great to keep picking up results.
"We don't kid ourselves on that. We've got Reading and then Forest, they don't come any tougher then that. We don't really look further ahead than that at the moment.
"They are a good club. It's always difficult going to Reading. You always know it's going to be a good game, it's going to be end-to-end. They know how to attack.
"We've got a couple of new lads in, in Wayne Routledge and Ismael Miller. They take a little bid of bedding in."
