Taarabt: 'The real celebration will be next week'

Adel Taarabt has claimed the full extent of Queens Park Rangers achievements has not fully sunk in yet.
After winning 2-0 at Watford to seal promotion to the Premier League and seal the Championship title the Moroccan playmaker said the real party will be at Loftus Road next Saturday when Rangers host Leeds.
He said: “It’s a fantastic feeling but I don’t think we realise [the full extent of our achievements] yet because the game has just finished and we were not at home so it is only 2000 fans.
I think we will celebrate next week at home.Adel Taarabt
“I think we will celebrate next week at home and for me when I go home and everyone calls me from Morocco I will realise.”
21-year-old Taarabt also took time to pay credit to manager Neil Warnock, a man he says has guided him this year even when he has made mistakes.
He added: “He’s been like a father and he’s always been there for me. At the times when I had a problem or I made a mistake he forgave me all the time.
“He told me ‘I forgive you but try to give it back to me on the pitch’.”

Warnock's biggest test will be making Adel a Premier hit

QPR look like being the first team through the door into next season's Premier League after an outstanding season under Neil Warnock.
It's taken a while, but after a 15-year spell out of the top flight - even dipping down to League One for three seasons - Rangers look to be finally heading back.
The club that in the 1980s and 1990s reached two Wembley finals, finished in the top five three times and produced England stars Les Ferdinand, David Seaman, Paul Parker, Andy Sinton, Terry Fenwick and David Bardsley has spent too long outside the big time.

But they will be relishing their promotion from the Championship as soon as it is confirmed within the next week or so. Joy has been thin on the ground at Loftus Road since Ray Wilkins took Rangers down back in 1996.

Will Queens Park Rangers’ Star Adel Light Up The Premier League?

Coming to a Premier League near you
He may have just won the Championship Player of the year award but Premier League bound Queens Park Rangers would be mad to rely on this misfiring luxury player next season.
Unforeseen balls-ups permitting, Queens Park Rangers are heading back to the Premier League. Their form has barely slipped throughout the season and manager Neil Warnock has installed in the team a miserly, defensive core that has conceded an astonishingly-tiny 27 goals in 42 league matches. After 15 years of wait QPR fans have been cautiously introducing themselves to the idea of supporting a winning side.

Matthew Connolly today insisted captain Adel Taarabt is not a disruptive influence in the dressing room and is vital for the club's hopes of staying in the Premier League next season.

Savage happy to snuff out threat of Taarabt again

Savage
Robbie Savage
ROBBIE Savage was pleased with the job he did to snuff out the threat of the Championship's player of the season, Adel Taarabt, as Derby County claimed a hard-earned goalless draw against leaders Queens Park Rangers.
Savage man-marked Taarabt at Loftus Road last night and managed, again, to frustrate the talented Moroccan international, who was substituted in the 71st minute.
"The plan was to man-mark Taarabt, which I've done four times now and, four times, he hasn't had a kick," said Savage.

Taarabt in Championship XI

Taarabt in Team of Year - FOOTBALL - Championship

Adel Taarabt's fine season for Queens Park Rangers has continued with the Moroccan midfielder named in the PFA Championship team of the year.

The 21-year-old has scored 16 goals for QPR this season, after being installed as club captain by manager Neil Warnock in the summer, and was named Championship Player of the Year last month.
Taarabt - who also has the most assists for QPR with 15 so far this season - and goalkeeper Paddy Kenny are the only members of the league-leaders' squad named in the Championship's best XI, with promotion-chasing Swansea and Norwich also contributing two players apiece.

QPR slap £10million price tag on Real Madrid target Adel Taarabt

Adel Taarabt Image 4
IF REAL Madrid really want QPR’s Adel Taarabt – they can have him – but it will cost the European superstars £10million.
Rangers boss Neil Warnock revealed for the first time last night he would be willing to sell his star striker – and reckoned speculation linking the mercurial talent with a move away was set to rage all summer.
He said: "Everyone in football has a price – and if someone was willing to come in with that sort of money – you would have to look at it.
"There might be a club, Real or whoever, willing to take a gamble on him, but if you ask me here and now, I think he’ll be with us at the start of next season."
Warnock revealed it was not only fatigue that saw him sub Taarabt in the 1-0 win at Barnsley on Tuesday night – a day after Real were linked with the Moroccan international – it was also the threat he could get sent off.

Everton lining up exciting Taarabt bid

Everton Football Club are preparing a summer bid for Adel Taarabt.

The Moroccan international may have failed to make the grade at Tottenham Hotspur, but he has been sensational since signing for Queens Park Rangers.

Taarabt, who has been voted the Championship Player of the Year, has led the Hoops to the brink of promotion back to the Premier League.

However, Neil Warnock faces a fight to retain the 21-year-old, with a number of clubs from home and abroad said to be keeping tabs on his performances.

The latest club who are believed to be lining up a summer bid is Everton, with David Moyes prepared to pay around £8million to land the midfielder.

QPR wait on Adel Taarabt injury

Adel Taarabt Image 2
QPR are sweating on the fitness of Adel Taarabt ahead of tomorrow's trip to Barnsley.
The mercurial Moroccan missed Saturday's drubbing against strugglers Scunthorpe with a stomach problem.
But the former Spurs star could return at Oakwell if he gets the all-clear from the doctor.
Boss Neil Warnock said: "We're waiting for the doctor's report to decide whether to bring him up by car later today."

Scouts urge Real Madrid to go for QPR star Taarabt

Real Madrid are weighing up a shock swoop for QPR star Adel Taarabt.
Marca says Real scouts have delivered glowing reports on the formerTottenham reject to sports director Jorge Valdano.
Taarabt has inspired QPR this season to within touching distance of promotion to the Premier League.
Real are seeking to overhaul their midfield options in the summer - but on a budget - and believe they can land Taarabt for less than £10 million.
Pedro Leon, Sergio Canales, Fernando Gago, Esteban Granero and Lassana Diarra are all under the gun.

Taarabt AND Routledge doubts for Scunny

Adel Taarabt's stomach problems have not improved and he has not trained at all this week. The scan which was suggested as happening on Tuesday did not, apparently, take place. Instead, Taarabt has been resting.

However, a scan is set for this coming Monday, should he continue to suffer. Warnock told the Ealing Gazette:'It may just be a little strain, but we may need a scan to appease his mind. We don't know what it is, though, it's just a pain in his stomach.'

The worry is that Wayne Routledge did not train today either - because of a sore ankle. It was apparently a precaution but, in light of the appalling state of Scunthorpe's notorious pitch, it's possible that Warnock will not play Routledge - bearing in mind we have to go back up north on Tuesday evening to face Barnsley.

I guess that, if Taarabt doesn't play, his able deputy at Doncaster, Hogan Ephraim, will resume his role. But is there an argument for including Akos Buzsaky from the start?

Well, whoever plays, I'm glad it's not me who has to make the decision - Warnock's doing a superb job so I'll leave it all up to him!

NEWCASTLE United are weighing up a summer move for Queens Park Ranger’s Adel Taarabt.
Manager Alan Pardew was keen to bring Taarabt to St James’s Park in January.
But the club fended off Newcastle’s interest, with the midfielder central to their hopes of returning to the Premier League.

Taarabt to have scan on mystery stomach problem

QPR skipper Adel Taarabt is to undergo a scan to try to solve a mystery stomach problem.

The 15-goal midfielder had barely trained all week but still managed 70 minutes of Monday night's 3-0 win over Sheffield United - his first appearance for Rangers since hearing the news his cousin had been shot dead.

"He wasn't going to play Monday morning or on Sunday," revealed manager Neil Warnock.

"He trained on Thursday and then he had terrible stomach pains and we can't find anything so he's going for a scan - but he said he wanted to play.

"I told him I didn't want him to but he wanted to, and I thought was good in the circumstances.

"He was a threat in the first half, he kept the ball and made some great, simple passes - which isn't easy for him!"

ARSENAL TARGET £5M ADEL TAARABT

DAILY STAR SUNDAY
QPR star Adel Taarabt is a £5million target for Arsenal – and that suits his football pals Samir Nasri, Abou Diaby and Marouanne Chamakh.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is hugely impressed with the form of the Moroccan midfielder.

And QPR manager Neil Warnock is resigned to losing the stylish playmaker, who signed for Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham when he came to England four years ago.

But Taarabt, 21, admitted: “This was a mistake and I regret it. I would have had a better chance at Arsenal. I would progress with Arsene Wenger.”

Chelsea enter the race for £8m QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt

Chelsea are expected to join the chase this summer for QPR forward Adel Taarabt.
The 21-year-old Morocco international, who has two years left on his contract, looks set to leave Loftus Road in the summer even if Rangers win promotion to the Premier League and would command an asking price of around £8million.

Taarabt ready for Rangers return - Warnock

Adel Taarabt Image 3
NEIL Warnock says Adel Taarabt is in the right frame of mind to finish the task of getting Rangers promoted after missing the last game to cope with a family bereavement.
The Championship player of the year missed his first club game of the campaign at Doncaster before the international break because of the death of a close family member and the QPR manager was sufficiently concerned to jet out to spend time with him in Morocco last week.
Warnock took in Morocco's Olympic team in action as well as making sure he got to see Taarabt in his homeland.
"I went to Morocco for four days and had a few hours with him on Monday night," said the QPR boss. "He's OK now and looking forward to the run-in.
"I think he appreciated me going out to see him. I think it was important to show a bit of support for him. He's only a young lad of 21.
"We don't often get a chance to chat like that and he was relaxed on his own territory. I had four or five hours with him."
