Queens Park Rangers have been handed a major blow after manager Neil Warnock admitted that he expects captain Adel Taarabt will leave the club this summer.
Taarabt played a huge part in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League last season but has his heart set on leaving Loftus Road and won't be playing a part in helping them stay in the top flight.

Exclusive - Bircham: 'There's more to QPR than just Taarabt'

Marc Bircham has told talkSPORT that there is more to Queens Park Rangers than just Adel Taarabt.
The 22-year-old Moroccan has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain who are belived to be willing to part with around £13m for his services, with many claiming Rangers wouldn’t stand a chance of Premier League survival without their gifted talisman.
But Loftus Road legend Bircham reckons there is much more to Neil Warnock’s squad than that, saying: “[Adel Taarabt] was just a piece in the jigsaw. We have players like Paddy Kenny who won Players Player of the Year and Fans Player of the Year so he was just as big a part of it.
Adel Taarabt did fantastic last year but it was the foundations of the team that let him express himself.Marc Bircham
“Some of the other lads have done fantastic this year as well, Ali Faurlin, Clint Hill and Shaun Derry. They did just as well, they were magnificent. If you looked at QPR we were a very solid team.

Atletico Madrid meet with agent of QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt - report

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to a number of European clubs due to a contract dispute with the recently promoted side leaving his Loftus Road future in doubt

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in Queens Park Rangers midfielder Abel Taarabt, with the player's agent having reportedly been spotted in the Spanish capital.

The 22-year-old was named Championship Player of the Season in 2010-11, leading the London side to promotion to the Premier League, scoring 19 goals and assisting in 23 more in 44 games.

Despite this a contract dispute related to money has thrown the Moroccan's future into doubt, with a Paris St Germain thought to have made a £10 million bid for the attacking midfielder.

However, AS reports that the player's representative was seen at the Vicente Calderon yesterday in a meeting with Jose Caminero, the La Liga side's sporting director.

A fee of around £10.8m million is reportedly needed to activate a release clause in the former Tottenham man's contract as speculation persists over his future at Loftus Road.
